The Advocacy Training System will provide you with all of the knowledge necessary to establish and operate your own special education advocacy practice. This training system will provide you with the information you will need to know how to:
- set up your business entity
- set up your office space
- market your business and attract clients
- understand the laws, regulations, and the processes involved in special education evaluation, eligibility, review, reevaluation, transition, progress reporting, documentation, and much more
- understand and requirements of an Individual Education Program (IEP)
- conduct an initial intake interview with a client
- request, review, and understand school records and evaluations
- help your clients determine missing or inadequate components to their child's education program
- determine a plan of action to get the appropriate services for your client
- participate in team meetings, mediation meetings, manifestation meetings, file complaints with state departments of education, and request due process hearings
- invoice clients and manage your business' finances
- determine your billing model, hourly or per service
